The Sword of The Spirit

sword-of-the-spiritIn the last year, I received a book about how to pray on the armor of God.  I started praying on the armor daily, I learned about each piece of the spiritual armor that we need to endure the battles we face here on earth.

Someone said of the sword of the spirit that it is God’s word that has become rhema word in your life.  Rhema word is word that is real to you.  You can be reading along and all of a sudden the words that you read come to life.  The Bible is referred to as “The Living Word.”  When you have a revelation of the Word, it becomes a weapon in your life.  You can fight anything that the enemy has prepared for you with the Word of God.  You have the answers to any problem when the Word becomes rhema.

John 1:1 says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  John 1:14 says “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” And Revelation 19:13 says “He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.”  Therefore Jesus is the Word. Everything that had been spoken to the point that Jesus was born was personified in the human being Jesus.  When Jesus becomes real to us, and the words that God has spoken become rhema to us, there is nothing that can conquer us.  Romans 8:31 “If God be for us, who can be against us?”

This year I read the Bible straight through for the first time in my christian walk.  As I read, I highlighted any verses that become rhema to me.  I was going to go back through and type all the verses I found meaningful to keep a journal of what spoke to me that time through the Bible.  Instead, I was inspired to blog each of the verses.

I just realized that as I blog here and share the revelation that I received, I am cementing these lessons in my spirit.  As a young child I attended a Baptist church, there was a great emphasis on memorizing the word. I struggled to memorize.  The spiritual armor book also included a prayer that I would start to hunger for the Word and memorize the word.  But it’s not just the words of the verse, it’s the rhema you take from the verses that become a sword your hands.

As I blog, I receive new revelation to share, when I share the Word becomes truth and light in my personal life.  I hope that my readers also get revelation, but that they will be inspired to dig deep into the Word for themselves.  I pray you not stop reading until the words light up.  It is Living Word.  God says in Jer. 29:13 “You will find me when you seek me with all of your heart.”  Every time I go to the Word, I find Him there speaking to me.  You may have to press in and read more than a few chapters, but you will find Him.

I pray for you now, to receive rhema Word.  That you would hunger and thirst for the Word.  That it/He would become a love letter to you personally, not a chore or something you must do.
